do you believe?
mumford & sons is finally back in the music scene (after a two year hiatus)! okay yeah, they’re not indie. and they’re pretty well-known. but then again, tuesdays are also for covering new music and believe is definitely new, having been released only a day ago. their full album, wilder mind, will be released later in may.
artist: mumford & sons
album: believe (single) / wilder mind
genre: folk rock
they’ve definitely gone for a more electronic, less acoustic/folky sound compared to what they’ve done in their previous albums – sometimes, CHANGE IS GOOD! though i enjoy their old style, this new sound is great as well, very coldplay-esque. on the side note, everything i enjoy seems to be coldplay-esque, like RAINES. maybe it’s because i enjoy their music? or maybe it’s the texture of chris martin’s voice i like? or maybe it’s because they’re pretty much the only band whose sound i know really well… i don’t know. but, once again, i’m not the only one who thinks this (stereogum & billboard). from an interview with rolling stone, frontman marcus mumford listed some of their favourite bands that provided the inspiration to this new “spatial” sound of theirs: led zeppelin, fleetwood mac, dire straits, radiohead.
though some fans do not particularly enjoy this new banjo-less sound of the band’s, i am looking forward to what surprises they have in stock for their new album.
save the date: may 4.
that’s all for now.
